Dutse, June 15, 2026 – Jigawa State Executive Council has constituted a high-level committee for the review of the Dutse Master Plan 2050, to guide the state’s urban development agenda.
The state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, made this known in an interview with newsmen on the outcome of the weekly executive council meeting in Dutse.
He said the committee was constituted following a presentation by Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services Limited (ABUCOS), on the proposed review of the Dutse Master Plan 2050.
According to the Commissioner, the committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning, Ahmed Alhaji Kaugama.
He added that the committee also has four members of the State Executive Council, who previously served as commissioners for lands in the state.
“The members are Commissioner for Commerce, Aminu Kanta, Commissioner for Information, Sagir Musa Ahmed; Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhassan Muhammed; and Commissioner for Environment, Nura Ibrahim.
“The council mandated the committee to undertake a comprehensive review of all submissions and recommendations relating to the master plan, to ensure that the final document reflects the aspirations of government, stakeholders and residents of the state.
“As part of its assignment, the committee is expected to engage professional bodies, community representatives and other relevant stakeholders,” Mr Musa said.
He however stressed that public hearings would be conducted where necessary, to provide an inclusive platform for public contributions and feedback.
The committee according to him, was given four weeks to submit its report and recommendations to the State Executive Council.
“The effort is expected to strengthen long-term urban planning efforts in Dutse and surrounding communities, while promoting stakeholder participation and transparency in the development process,” he disclosed.
