Dutse, July 16, 2026 Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the establishment of two strategic committees to strengthen revenue generation and promote digital social responsibility across the state.
The state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the weekly council meeting on Thursday in Dutse.
He said the approval followed the presentation and consideration of key administrative reports at the council meeting, presided by Gov Umar Namadi of the state.
The first committee on revenue harmonisation and integration, according to him, will harmonise the Jigawa state revenue codification law with the Jigawa State Internal Revenue Board Corporate Plan.
He explained that the initiative will strengthen the state’s financial framework and boost internally generated revenue, through improved coordination and policy alignment.
“The Commissioner for Finance will chair the committee, while the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning will serve as co-chair. “Other members include the Commissioners for Lands, Health, Higher Education, Local Government, Justice, Commerce, Information, Agriculture and Livestock Development,” he said.
Also in the committee are the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Director-General of ICT and Digital Economy, Director-General of Invest Jigawa, the State Accountant-General and the State Auditor-General.
The Chairman of the Jigawa State Board of Internal Revenue will serve as secretary of the committee, according to the Commissioner.
The council he said, has also constituted a Committee on the Digital Social Responsibility Programme to review a proposal aimed at promoting responsible digital engagement, particularly among young people and other residents.
The Commissioner for Information will chair the committee, while the Director-General of ICT and Digital Economy, the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, a representative of Galaxy Backbone, Special Assistants on ICT I and II, and the Special Assistant on Security will serve as members.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor will serve as secretary of the committee.
“To ensure timely implementation, the council directed the Office of the Secretary to the state government, to prepare and issue detailed Terms of Reference for both committees.
“The council further directed the committees to complete their assignments and submit comprehensive reports to the council within two weeks of their inauguration.
