eTranzact International has reaffirmed its leadership in digital payment and public sector technology solutions with the successful deployment of an automated informal sector revenue collection platform for the Jigawa State Government.
The innovative solution was officially unveiled during a stakeholder engagement, sensitisation and training programme held at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, State Secretariat, Dutse.
About 90 revenue collectors, market leaders and key stakeholders were trained on the use of the platform and its role in improving transparency, accountability and efficiency in revenue administration.
Developed by eTranzact International in partnership with the Jigawa Internal Revenue Service (JIRS), the application is designed to digitise revenue collection across livestock markets, grain markets, haulage operations and other informal sector activities, replacing manual processes with a secure, technology-driven system.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy General Manager and Group Head, Public Sector Division (States), eTranzact International, Mr. Gabriel Essien, described the platform as a strategic digital innovation that would transform revenue administration and strengthen public financial management.
According to him, the solution leverages advanced payment technology to harmonise revenue collection processes, eliminate leakages and provide government with real-time visibility into transactions.
“The future of revenue administration is digital. Through this platform, every transaction becomes transparent, traceable and accountable, enabling governments to improve service delivery while giving taxpayers confidence that their payments are securely managed,” Essien said.
He disclosed that eTranzact would deploy a comprehensive digital ecosystem comprising mobile wallets, Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals and other electronic payment channels to support market leaders, traders and authorised revenue collectors across the state.
Also speaking, the Regional Manager, Northwest, eTranzact International, Mr. Nwabueze Ugwu, said the company developed the solution to address longstanding challenges associated with informal sector revenue collection, including leakages, manual reconciliation and limited transaction visibility.
He explained that the platform provides end-to-end automation, ensuring that all payments are electronically captured and remitted directly into designated government accounts in real time.
“Our objective is to empower governments with technology that drives efficiency, transparency and revenue growth.
This solution is designed to eliminate leakages while providing accurate data for informed decision-making and sustainable economic development,” Ugwu said.
He added that the platform is expected to significantly enhance revenue generation from the informal sector through seamless digital collection and monitoring mechanisms.
The Executive Chairman of the Jigawa Internal Revenue Service, Dr. Nasir Sabo-Idris, commended eTranzact International for delivering a robust technology solution that aligns with the state’s digital transformation agenda.
He noted that the platform would complement the state’s ongoing tax reforms by equipping revenue personnel with modern digital tools while improving compliance among taxpayers.
According to him, Jigawa State’s Internally Generated Revenue has witnessed remarkable growth following the adoption of digital reforms, underscoring the importance of technology-driven revenue administration.
Representing Governor Umar Namadi at the launch, the Coordinator of the Jigawa Enlightenment and Engagement Tax Team (JEET), Muhammad Mukufi, described the platform as a major milestone in promoting transparent, convenient and accountable tax administration.
Participants at the event praised the application for its simplicity, ease of use and user-friendly interface during a live demonstration and transaction testing session.
