The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced a statewide vaccination exercise for intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj, as part of comprehensive measures to ensure a safe and healthy pilgrimage.
The vaccination campaign, officially flagged off at the grassroots level, is aimed at strengthening the immunity of pilgrims and safeguarding them against potential health risks throughout their journey—from departure in Nigeria to their stay in Saudi Arabia and eventual return.
Director-General of the board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, described the exercise as a critical component of Hajj preparations, stressing that health compliance remains a top priority.
He noted that the board has intensified efforts to guarantee a seamless pilgrimage experience for all registered participants.
Also speaking, the head of the medical team, Dr. Abubakar Habib, assured that adequate vaccines have been secured and distribution will continue until every intending pilgrim is fully covered.
In the same vein, the Director of Hajj Operations, Muhammad Garba, emphasized the need for strict adherence to Saudi Arabian health regulations, noting that compliance is essential for participation in the pilgrimage.
The board further expressed appreciation to Governor Umar Namadi for his sustained support, which it said has been instrumental in ensuring effective planning and coordination for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
