Corps members of the 2026 Batch “B” Stream II have showcased Nigeria’s cultural diversity at a colourful carnival organised at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Maiduguri.
The event, a major feature of the orientation course, brought together corps members representing different ethnic groups from the country’s six geopolitical zones.
Dressed in colourful traditional attires, the corps members entertained spectators with cultural dances, drama, poetry presentations and exhibitions highlighting Nigeria’s diverse heritage.
Speaking at the occasion, NYSC Borno State Coordinator, Mallam Nasir Bello, said the carnival was designed to promote national unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Bello said the event demonstrated that Nigerians could overcome differences in language, religion and ethnicity while working together towards national development.
“This carnival reminds us that despite our differences in language, religion and tribe, we are one Nigeria,” he said.
He described the NYSC scheme as a veritable platform for fostering national integration, peaceful coexistence and nation-building among young Nigerians.
The coordinator commended the corps members for their creativity, teamwork and commitment to ensuring a successful and entertaining cultural presentation.
He urged them to sustain the spirit of unity, tolerance and mutual understanding as they proceed to their various Places of Primary Assignment.
The carnival underscored the role of cultural exchange in strengthening relationships among young Nigerians and promoting a greater sense of national identity.
