Jigawa State Government and the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the state’s business environment through reforms aimed at attracting investment, boosting enterprise growth and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
The commitment was reiterated during the Nationwide Town Hall Meeting, Sub-National Engagement and Technical Reform Workshop held at M-Town Suites Hotel in Dutse on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Jigawa state Deputy Governor, Engr. Aminu Usman Gumel, said the engagement provides a strategic platform for direct interaction between policymakers and the private sector to identify challenges affecting businesses and develop practical solutions.
He noted that the initiative would enable investors, manufacturers, traders, farmers, entrepreneurs and service providers to share their experiences, identify regulatory bottlenecks and recommend reforms that would enhance productivity, competitiveness and the state’s investment attractiveness.
According to the deputy governor, the contributions of business operators are critical to shaping policies that encourage enterprise development, economic growth and improved competitiveness.
Gumel, who also chaired the stakeholders’ engagement session, described the private sector as the engine of economic growth and sustainable development, stressing that while government provides infrastructure and an enabling environment, businesses create jobs, stimulate innovation, expand markets and generate wealth.
He said a thriving business environment depends on transparent and predictable regulations, efficient public services, accessible infrastructure and adequate security for investors.
The deputy governor reaffirmed the Namadi administration’s commitment to implementing reforms under its 12-Point Development Agenda, to attract investment across key sectors of the economy and accelerate inclusive economic development in Jigawa State.
“The state government will continue collaborating with PEBEC and other development partners, to remove obstacles of doing business and improve the ease of investment in the state,” Gumel said.
The workshop featured a panel discussion involving key stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Lands, the Director-General of Jigawa Invest and the Executive Chairman of the Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service, who examined strategies for strengthening the state’s business climate through policy reforms and institutional collaboration.
