Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rano Air, for the immediate commencement of scheduled commercial flight between Dutse and Abuja, to improve connectivity and stimulate economic development.
Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the weekly council meeting on Tuesday in Dutse, the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa said the approval followed the adoption of a report submitted to facilitate commercial flight operations in the state.
According to him, the new flight service, will ease movement for residents, investors, development partners, government officials and business executives while integrating Jigawa more effectively into the national economy.
Musa explained that the partnership with Rano Air, will maximise the utilisation of the Dutse International Airport, expand access to reliable air transport services and promote commerce, tourism and job creation.
He however described the project as a milestone in the state’s drive to deliver sustainable infrastructure and accelerate socio-economic development.
Meanwhile, Mr Musa revealed that In addition, the council also approved a roadmap for implementing recommendations from the 2025 Citizens’ Engagement Programme, including the establishment of Community Engagement Desks in all 27 local government areas.
“The approval underscored Gov. Umar Namadi’s commitment to human capital development, food security, transparent governance and sustainable socio-economic growth across the state,” Musa said.
