ALGON Jigawa dissociates self from a political song “apology”, reiterates loyalty to Namadi

Dutse, April 10, 2026

Association of Local Government Chairmen(ALGON), Jigawa State chapter, has dissociated itself from a political song tittled “apology”, released some days ago by the state Governor’s political singer, Idris Dan Zaki.

It was gathered that the song was an apology to the state Governor, following the suspension of local government accounts of the 27 local government areas of the state for about five months.

At a press conference in Dutse, the ALGON Chairman who is also the Chairman of Dutse Local Government, Dr. Sibu Abdullahi, said the association was not consulted before the song was produced.

He explained that the singer acted independently, out of sympathy for the difficult situation faced by the local governments as a result of the suspension of the accounts, on orders of the state Governor.

Dr Abdullahi added that the council chairmen remain loyal to the governor and do not view the decision as punitive.

Jigawa he said, is one of the few states in Northern Nigerian where LG chairmen had the opportunity to conduct development projects without the interference of the state government.

According to him, “if there were any grievances, we will engage the governor directly to seek reconciliation, rather than resort to public appeals through songs on social media platforms.

“I therefore call on social media influences and political singers, to desist from over acting and over praising, as it may attract displeasure in the state’s democratic situation,” he said.

He then reiterated the commitment of ALGON to supporting the Danmodi and the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging that they would perform their tasks at the local council levels to ensure success.

It was gathered Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state withheld the local government funds due to allegations of fund misappropriation by some of the local government chairmen in the state.
