Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Saturday led a large delegation of party supporters to Eagle Square in Abuja for the 8th National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in what party leaders described as a major show of strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The convention, attended by delegates and stakeholders from across the country, marked a significant step in the APC’s preparations for the next electoral cycle, with party officials expressing confidence in a united front and renewed political momentum.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf described the exercise as peaceful, well-organised, and indicative of the APC’s status as a dominant political force on the African continent.
He noted that the massive turnout and active participation of party members underscored the APC’s readiness to consolidate its position and secure victory in the forthcoming elections.
The governor also highlighted the strong presence of Kano’s political stakeholders at the event, describing it as a clear demonstration of unity within the party in one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states.
He commended party stalwarts and supporters who travelled from Kano and other parts of the country to witness the convention, acknowledging their commitment to the party’s growth and success.
A major highlight of the convention was the emergence of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the National Chairman of the APC, alongside other members of the party’s national leadership, following a consensus process widely accepted by delegates.
Governor Yusuf congratulated the newly elected officials and expressed optimism that their leadership would steer the party towards greater achievements.
He also offered prayers for the safe return of participants to their respective states, while reaffirming confidence that the outcome of the convention has positioned the APC strongly for the political contests ahead.
