The management of Jigawa Golden Stars Football Club, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the President of the Nigerian Referees Association, Sani Zubairu Gwabba, describing his death as a significant loss to Nigerian football.
In a condolence message signed by the club’s public relations officer, Mr Ibrahim Isyaku issued on Tuesday, the club, alongside its coaching staff, players, and the Jigawa State Government, extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and the entire refereeing community across the country.
The statement noted that Gwabba’s demise leaves a vacuum that will be difficult to fill, given his unwavering dedication to the advancement of football officiating in Nigeria.
“His leadership and commitment, had played a pivotal role in shaping standards and strengthening the integrity of refereeing within the nation’s football ecosystem.
“His contributions to the growth of the game will not be forgotten,” the statement read, highlighting the late administrator’s enduring legacy in the Nigerian sports industry.
The club further, offered prayers for the repose of his soul, praying to Almighty God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
It also prayed for strength and comfort for his family, colleagues, and the broader football community, as they come to terms with the loss.
