The management of Kano State Polytechnic has formally matriculated over 5,000 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The matriculation ceremony, held on Tuesday, was attended by management staff, students, parents and other dignitaries.
The institution’s Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, who was represented by the Director of Academic Planning, Research and Innovation, Engr. Dr. Comrade Ibrahim Usman Aikawa, welcomed the new students and urged them to uphold the core values of the institution.
According to a statement signed by Au al Ismail Bagwai, Head of Public Affairs, the Rector charged the students to embrace “integrity, excellence, discipline, innovation and humanity” throughout their stay in the institution.
“He encouraged students to pursue their studies with dedication, manage their time wisely, and engage in extracurricular activities that develop leadership and creative abilities,” the statement said.
After administering the matriculation oath, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mukhtar Ibrahim Bello, popularly known as Falakin Kano, congratulated the students and urged them to be good ambassadors of the institution.
The statement added that a presentation on examination rules and regulations was delivered by the Deputy Registrar, Exams and Records, Fatima Bala Ahmad, who was represented by the Director of Quality Assurance, Dr. Ahmad Zubairu Chedi.
“He warned students against examination malpractice and advised them to remain vigilant and law-abiding throughout their academic journey on the institution and beyond,” the statement added.
Also speaking on behalf of the Deputy Registrar, Student Affairs, Sadiq Imam Wali, the Students Affairs Officer of the School of Management Studies, Comrade Abdulmajid Bn Tukur, emphasized the importance of decent dressing among students.
“He emphasized the importance of dressing decently, noting that students represent their families, communities and the Polytechnic,” the statement noted.
The Chairman of the Convention and Matriculation Committee, Malam Sulaiman Hashim Rano, congratulated the newly admitted students and wished them success in their academic pursuits.
He also appreciated members of the committee and the institution’s management for their support towards the success of the event.
