Jigawa State Government has broken silence on the widespread interest surrounding the alleged case of abduction involving a lady, uWalida Abdulhadi, an indigene of the State.
A statement signed by the Chief Press to the Governor, Mr Hamisu Gumel made this known on Tuesday.
It said that the state government has been fully aware of the matter, from the moment it came to light and has since been proactively involved in addressing it.
The Government it noted, treats the case with the seriousness it deserves, having undeestood the emotional weight it carries for the lady’s family and the people of Jigawa State.
“Accordingly, the state Ministry of Justice, has been formally involved in following up on the case, to ensure that appropriate legal and administrative processes are diligently observed.
“The Ministry is working in close coordination with relevant authorities, to safeguard the rights and interests of the affected citizen,” the statement explained.
Beyond institutional engagement, it added, Gov. Umar Namadi of the state, has initiated high-level contacts and consultations with the appropriate authorities, to ensure the case is handled fairly, transparently, and expeditiously.
The statement however, assured that the state government is fully on top of the situation, as the protection of the rights, dignity, and welfare of every indigene remains a core responsibility and priority of the administration.
While efforts to resolve the matter are ongoing, the government sincerely appreciates the concern, solidarity, and prayers expressed by citizens.
“We appeal to the general public, to remain calm and allow the necessary legal and official processes to run their course,” said the statement.
It could be recalled that a few months back, a family from Hadejia, in Jigawa state raised an alarm over alleged abduction and conversion of the faith of their daughter Walida by a DSS operative names Ifeanyin.
The case led to the arrest of the officer while the DSS was said to have launched an investigation into the case.
