Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to collaborate with the Federal Radio Corporetion of Nigeria (FRCN), for the interest of the public.
Namadi gave the affirmation when he received the Management team of the Radio who paid him a courtesy visit at Dutse government House on Thursday.
He stressed that Jigawa state government will strengthen collaboration with FRCN, noting the significance of radio to the public.
According to the givernor, “Despite the growing influence of social media, the radio continues to play a very vital role in communicating our policies and activities, especially in northern Nigeria.
“Radio Nigeria Kaduna is an institution that must be reckoned with in the field of journalism in Nigeria and its wide coverage makes it one of the most effective platforms for reaching citizens, particularly at the grassroots.
“Our partnership is something we deeply cherish. I assure you that we will continue to strengthen this relationship,” Namadi said.
He further commended the management of the FRCN, for recognising his administration’s modest achievements and presentin a commemorative plaque to him.
Speaking earlier, the Acting Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria Kaduna, Mr Lawal Ali Garba said the visit was to deepen collaboration and strengthening stakeholder engagement between the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and Jigawa State Government.
He thus conveyed the appreciation of the Director General of FRCN, Dr. Mohammad Bulama, for the consistent support extended to the corporation by the Jigawa State Government.
Mr Garba however, commended Governor Namadi for the achievements recorded in key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and civil service welfare.
He specifically highlighted the administration’s investment of over ₦8 billion in scholarship support in the 2025 fiscal year under the Danmodi Students Care Programme, covering nearly 35,000 students.
He also acknowledged the implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage for state workers and recruitment of health personnel.
The ZD also applauded the revitalisation of free healthcare programmes for children and pregnant women, agricultural reforms, and infrastructural development across the State.
